Transition to Lifecoach

Updated: Feb 5

Changing careers from the software field to life coaching wasn't easy. When I introduce myself as a life coach, there's curiosity about the switch and my unconventional path. After working in the software field for over 10 years, I realized the desk job with unpredictable hours was not for me.

What triggered me to change my career despite earning a six-figure salary? Constant body pains and continuous physical therapy sessions, along with heightened stress and anxiety, left me emotionally unavailable for myself and my family. During a conscious break from job hunting, I realized that my health symptoms were not as bad, but I still required physiotherapy and chiropractic care for a couple more years. Through the extensive treatment by my chiropractor—my healer, therapist, and angel—I learned to tune into my body, understand my needs, and be available for myself and for my family.

During my deeper healing journey with my chiropractor, she suggested the life coaching path. I jumped in, got certified, and had a transformative journey during that year-long certification process.

The journey was far from easy, even though summarizing the transition might make it seem so. Going through a career uncertainty for two years and dedicating another year to earning my certification, I found myself plunged into yet another challenging and unfamiliar territory—marketing myself as a life coach. Many times, I questioned myself about this coaching journey. I knew the software job wasn’t for me, and I was sure my talent lay in working directly with people, making connections and bringing positive and long-lasting changes into their lives. Every time doubt crept in, I reminded myself of the energy boost I’d feel when talking about my new career and the transformative journey I experienced during my training as a coach.

Now I am more relaxed, happy, and energetic knowing that I am in my element and have power over my actions. My own journey inspired me to help others in similar situations—transitioning to a different career, improving communication as a parent or in the workplace, gaining clarity in thinking, etc. I learned to be comfortable with ditching old traditional parenting methods that weren't helping me or my kids and focused on building a mutually respectful relationship. I started as a life coach, entered into parent coaching, and got certified as an Executive Function Coach for teens. This journey has truly been a testament to my resilience and determination.

After going through the stressful journey of the college application process with my daughter, I was inspired to start a subscription-based support group. My goal was to help other parents become thoroughly aware of the college preparation process and reduce their stress. As a parent coach and CASA volunteer, I realized the need to create a community where parents could freely address their concerns and acknowledge their own efforts. This led me to start another subscription-based group called the "Proud Parent" community, aimed at empowering parents to consciously recognize their dedication and hard work.

I know that my journey might not end here, and I am ready to take the path that is meaningful for me. I am grateful for this journey so far and look forward to many more meaningful adventures.
